There is a most excellent truism: ‘charity begins at home’. It means that goodness comes from within the human heart, and no external solution will have any lasting impact without it. Here are ten examples of children, who’s innocence compelled them to act from their hearts, and who’s acts of kindness may inspire more of us to do the same.
The world today is filled with many social ills: oppression, starvation, cruelty, greed, our oceans, destruction of the rain forests… the list just goes on and on. When we try to imagine how it will be for our children and generations to come, it gives us cause for concern. While we may contemplate a solution, we often forget that it is individual actions—actions from the heart—that really begin to make a positive change in the world. In truth, aren’t these actions from the heart the building blocks for making the world a better place?
But we can’t do it alone. As it was once said, “no man is an island”; meaning each one of us has a responsibility both to those around us, as well as to humankind. We need to do our part as individuals, and we also need to inspire others…
In these photos, the human heart is revealed and captured for us, so as to inspire us. It is often the actions of young children who remind us to think with our hearts instead of our heads.
